The Victorian Detectives by Carol Hedges
Recently I had great fun working with author Carol Hedges on the new covers for her Victorian Detective series as well as the cover for the newest release in the series, Wonders & Wickedness. Carol speaks more about the books below and in her blog post here The Great Victorian Cover-up. The silhouettes were all hand-drawn by myself, and an image was Carol's own as well one from Carol's Twitter friend, @Legalimportant.

Over to Carol to talk a little about the series:
The series started out as one book, Diamonds & Dust, which was roundly rejected by my then Agent ....who didn't *get* the humour at all. One rejected re-write later, we parted company, and the book was subsequently taken up by a small independent publisher, where it ended up on the Crime Writers Association Historical Dagger longlist for 2014
3 books later, I decided to go it alone ...and set up Little G Books (it stands for little granddaughter ~ever my inspiration)
There are now 5 books in the series, with the publication of Wonders & Wickedness.
Each book features the same pair of Scotland Yard detectives: Leo Stride and Jack Cully, and each is set a year later than the previous one. They can be read singly, but read as a series, there are little back-stories that emerge, throwing light on earlier characters.
I do a stack of research: I visit the places in London that I write about and take pictures (one features on the cover of Rack & Ruin). Whenever I can, I try to use original material ~there are lots of Victorian sites online that carry the writers of the period. I have shelves of Victorian novels, books about the period and some *interesting* medical writings.
Currently working on the 6th book...no title yet!
